TACKLE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
Just like a workout or sports massage you need to sometimes face a little discomfort before you see the therapeutic benefits. The difference is you just have to be ready and open for change.
As a psychologist and therapist, my main approach is predominantly an ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and mindfulness approach, working on issues including:
Anxiety (generalised & social)
Men’s health (emotion regulation and identity)
Grief and loss
Addiction/Drug and alcohol abuse
Eating disorders/Weight loss management
Panic attacks & Panic disorder
Divorce and Separation
Trauma and Post-traumatic stress disorder
Work related stress
Currently I work with clients of all ages, gender and backgrounds. My ideal, and most successful clients, are those that want to investigate who they truly are as a person in order to function and thrive in the world in the face of their adversity.
"IMAGINE A WORKOUT OR SPORTS MASSAGE.
SOMETIMES YOU MIGHT NEED TO FACE A LITTLE DISCOMFORT BEFORE YOU SEE REAL RESULTS"
I am a registered psychologist and have been in private clinical practice in East Sydney for the last decade.
My journey began studying organisational psychology specialising in positive psychology, wellness and resilience in the workplace.
Whilst completing my postgraduate training I worked clinically with drug and alcohol addictions.
New York then beckoned and for 2 years I interned at New York University (NYU) as a psychology research associate researching motivation, barriers to action, perception of risk and coping strategies.
I am also particularly passionate about men's mental health.
I have several years of facilitating and coaching men’s groups. They are effective support mechanisms to enable men to feel empowered while connecting to and managing their emotions.
Apart from running my practice I also facilitate a weekly drug and alcohol recovery group.
You don't have to see your GP or use your private health (HICAPS) fund to book an appointment unless you want to.
If you do see your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate with a valid referral under a Mental health care plan for up to 20 sessions.
A Medicare rebate will cover half of the session fee which is payable at the end of the session by cash, credit or debit card.
I can also assist with processing your Medicare rebate or HICAPS health fund claim at the time of the session if applicable.
You will be sent a reminder text message the day before your appointment. It is important for you to reply via this text to confirm your time for your session, or make any changes.
If for some reason you need to cancel or postpone the appointment, please provide a minimum of 24 hours notice, otherwise a non-attendance fee will be charged. For cancellations made less than 24 hours or on the same day as the appointment, the full session fee will be charged.
